Check real economySee the consumption you are actually getting, not just the sticker figure from the brochure.

Compare two carsPut both on the same figure to see which really sips less.
Split costs fairlyWork out a passenger's share of the fuel for a shared journey.
Good to know
Two ways to say the same thingLitres per 100 km and miles per gallon are inverses: a lower L/100km is better, a higher mpg is better. Do not mix them up when comparing.
US and UK gallons differA US gallon is smaller than an imperial one, so an mpg figure means different things on each side of the Atlantic. Note which your number uses.
Real mileage beats the ratingOfficial economy is measured in a lab. City traffic, a loaded boot, cold weather and a heavy right foot all push your real figure higher.
Price moves the cost, not the economyTrip cost depends on today's pump price, which changes week to week. The car's consumption is the stable number; the bill is not.
